Sombra is an uninteresting villain nobody cares about who did bugger all and then exploded. Could he do with some backstory? Yes! You know what I immediately latched on to as being relevant to Sombra’s backstory? The goddamn Inspiration Manifestation spell that comes from an evil book, is bright fucking green, and slowly takes over the user’s mind and forces them to turn everything into crystal. But nope. Writers don’t care about that shit.
 
Celestia has had not a damn thing to do all show long. She’s possibly the oldest living thing in equestria. She’s a pivotal aspect of the backstory of the world itself. Could she do with some development? Hell yes. But the very last thing she needs is for that development to revolve around a damn romance plot. Especially a really trite, cliched romance plot with an exceptionally uninteresting character.
 
I want to see how Celestia and Luna became alicorns. I want to see how Discord came to power in the first place. I want to see how Canterlot got built. I want to see the emotional struggle and conflict between the sisters leading up to Nightmare Moon. I want to see what Celestia did for a thousand years.
 
I don’t want to see her reduced to a lovesick puppy for some stupendously boring guy who has NO RELEVANCE TO ANYTHING WHATSOEVER.

See, it’s this kind of thought pattern that really irritates me, just because it’s designed for kids means that everything has to be neutered, Hamtaro, a Japanese anime designed for the same exact group as this cartoon is, with pretty much the same exact morals, had just as much importance on romance as it did on platonic relationships, with scenes just as romantic as this if not more, heck, there was a game called hamham heartbreak that was based entirely on the romantic relationships of the characters!
 
If the creators of either the comic or the cartoon wanted to add a little romance, then I feel they should be allowed to do as such, the delusional fanboys be damned if they were the only ones that would keep them from doing so.
