“Equestrian Magic”, wonder if this is triggered from the pony side.

‘more horrible for the ponies’ - we do not talk about the great sugar shortage. Such things have left scars man, scars.
I don’t know, it’s technically possible that the parts we don’t see are more horrible for the ponies to such an extent that you can’t show it on a kids’ show.
& for all we know, autumn could come right after spring in Equestria.
What I have just posited probably isn’t true though.
Actually it’s the Fall formal. Not the spring dance.
Twilight: “Princess of the fall formal?”
Celestia: “It’s Canterlot High’s big fall dance.”
So I’m fairly certain the school year isn’t ending any time soon.
Also, I thought that the S4 opener established that Season’s 1 to 3 took place in 1 year. With Celestia now happy to perform the Summer Sun Celebration now that Luna is back.
The multiple winter episodes we saw and so forth explained by one of he staff saying the episodes weren’t aired in a specific time order. (I think that response was made when someone asked how the Fall Weather Friends episode happened just after Winter Wrap-up)
Well, if you go by Dash’s lines in the Winter Wrap Up song then winter lasts 3 months - it’s probably safe to assume that the other months do too. (From an external viewpoint… one year there is probably the same as a year here since I doubt there was much call to create a whole original yearly cycle while worldbuilding the setting).
Either way it’s definitely not one year per season - which amusingly makes Ponyville less of a hub for crazy shenanigans/monster attacks/Pinkie Pie/accidents than fanon likes to paint it. We just don’t see all the boring weeks where nothing really happens is all.
I don’t know about that season changing logic, ponies have near full control over their environment. It could be that they just have really wonky seasons when compared to our’s.
Though I agree that each of the show’s seasons probably don’t match up to exactly one year.
I have also never understood why anyone equates one MLP season to one year. Especially when in the first season alone we see enough season changes to cover about two years of time.
Hell, Season One starts in summer (Friendship is Magic Parts 1+2), progresses through winter and into next spring (Winter Wrap-up) and then skips to next autumn (Fall Weather Friends) and from there goes skipping past winter into what looks like the next spring/summer for the rest of the season.
So…. yeah, i got no problems with there being any kind of timeskip between EQG ending and these antagonists joining the school. Time passes, big woop. Its not like crazy crap can be happening every day after all.
I think the director of RR said those 2 shorts with Twi are just Music videos that do not fit in any time frame. So the shorts involving the HuMane 5 and Vinyl are canon but the Twi ones are not.
I’ve never understood why anyone thought that a season equated to a year. Especially in a cartoon.
I can’t speak for other schools, but mine had the spring dance at the start of spring, quite some time before school ended.
Anyway, I find the idea of it being a new school year unlikely enough to discard out of hand. We’ve certainly seen nothing that points to it. Seeing all the same characters points more towards stasis than change.
Given that the shorts had Twilight appear, I’d be very surprised if they were canon.
From what we’ve seen of Sunset, I’d actually assume a very short time. Sunset is still bringing up her transformation, and not like it was old news.
There’s other ancillary bits on the time frame:
Yeah, probably overanalyzing things but this is fresh pony footage to get excited over :)
Probably not, but I’m fine with that.
Wouldn’t be able to take it all in one sitting anyway.
that’s not rainbow dash, that’s the EOH :/
Oh, so this is like the “release pretty much the whole movie in the form of a bunch of clips by the time the movie actually comes out” thing that happened with seasons 3 and 4?
No.
Then Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith show up in business suits and wearing black glasses: “That’s right, citizen, this was just swamp gas. There are no transformed pony princesses from alternate dimensions here, and youngsters at a local high school most certainly did NOT become demonic monsters even briefly. Now please look at the light.” FLASH! “Thank you for your cooperation… Yeesh, we’ve got to phone Celestia and ask her to keep a closer eye on that mirror.”
The HuMane Five don’t seem to hold grunges, not if someone asks for forgiveness. When they were turned against each other, it took less than a day for everything to get patched up.
And, as you said, Twilight asked them to stay with Sunset. If it had been a long time, you’d expect them to drift apart from her, not stay with her.
Given the ease those girls take with allegiances, that’s not so surprising.
The teasers had people treat Rock & Roll powered magic transformations like a common sight. Given that the first movie had a magic unicorn and a portal to another world, the people of Horselandia might be more accustomed to magic than is immediately obvious.
@LightningBearer
From what I’ve seen of people, they’re more likely to attribute swamp gas to black magic than the reverse.
The hostility from the five seems to be all but gone, it’s takes more then a few days for that and they only got over it because Twi asked them to overlook it.
Months seems more likely then days.
Rainbow swap gas?
if only for Sunset to become accustomed to being friends with the Mane 5
Enh. All we saw Sunset doing was hanging out with them, not something that takes a lot of time to do. Could be only few weeks later, or even only a few days. Months seems pretty unlikely.
If it’s anything like the real world, they’ll chalk it up to swamp gas or something.
