What amuses me is he wants her to love him as much as Opal… Which is possibly a step up in regards to how much Rarity fusses over Opal, but she’s also not above forcing Opal to help her work or dousing her water if she needs a convincing excuse…
At best, he’s going to get to spend a little more time and maybe get a bit more snuggles, but it hardly means he’s getting a romantic partner for his efforts.
Heck, unless she kisses Opal on the cheek from time to time, one could argue he’s doing better than the cat anyhow.

You may want to watch more of the show then. He sure isn’t the butch in any of his relationships. Even the CMC and other people’s pets kick him around.
