And then she ended the movie by pushing the two fillies she had been hanging out with for most of her stay in ponyville into mud when they came to see her off.  
Boy did she ever learn that lesson…

Did you miss the whole scene where the mud was being washed off? She started off being bullied in Manehattan, decided to become a bully to prevent it, became accustomed to it, and then came back to her senses when she saw the CMCs act selflessly.
 
And presumably, Babs got the bed cause she’s a guest.

That would make sense, if it wasn’t for the fact she continued to abuse Apple Bloom at home when they were alone and her friends even during times Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon weren’t even around.
 
Babs Seed LOVED being the bully. It stopped being about her being afraid of being made fun of long after the fact she chose to hang out with the ‘cool kids’.
 
And that ending was horrible. Any sane person who watches and listens to what Diamond Tiara and Silver do and say during that episode can see that Babs just pulled a 180 to save face with AJ and the CMC by pushing them over the edge into the mud.
 
She spends well over a good majority hanging and being friends, showing DT and SS how REAL bullies do things in Manehattan, for like 3 whole weeks and some change.
 
Then that High School annual comes out. My guess is that Babs is just a natural bully at heart and the only thing stopping her from being a total douche is the people she hangs out with either not approving that behavior or in Pony!Babs’ case, she don’t ever wanna have the CMC finish what they started.  
(they totally could of killed her and no pony would’ve been the wiser.)
 
But seriously, Babs had no excuse and didn’t have to pretend to be a bully in her own cousin’s home to where she had Apple Bloom sleep on the floor.
 
At least Diamond Tiara scoffed at the notion that she’d ever hit Sweetie Belle and chose to walk away to more important things, like a good place to watch the floats.

Its really hard to take Babs seriously as being Good at heart given how much of a raging jerk her human version was to Human AJ in the EQG annual.

While I wouldn’t actually agree with the statement, it actually makes a good point about the kind of people that really do this.
 
As for Babs, she just didn’t want to continue to get picked on. She didn’t want to be on the receiving end of MORE bullying, so she sided with the bullies to avoid it. Kinda like guys who white knight tumblr “feminists”.

Well….I always hated that episode. Along with Griffon the Brush Off. They were both poorly written.

it was not okay that she picked on the cmc. by no means was it right. however her reasons were understandable and she was afraid of being bullied. she went the completely wrong direction though.  
still she regreted and they made for it.
