Smash has always had characters that aren’t like their base game.Capt. Falcon for example.Besides his opening,in the original smash nothing about him said “Anti-gravity race car driver”.

I’m surprised there wasn’t much drama over “Wii Fit Trainer,” (sense you know, “zomg casual gaming iz ebil!”) in fact, sense the announcement she’s got alot of fanart sense then. (Especially, rather fan-service-y, or perv’y fanart hilariously.)
 
Sense I liked the “Game & Watch Gallery” Gameboy compilations as a kid, (to young to of gotten to play the original G&W handhelds from the 1980s) I was actually very happy over Mr. G&W in Melee personally, (and I like how his many different fighting moves reference a different G&W game) and he seems pretty well-accepted.

What are you talking about? Look at the “Mario” & “Super Mario Bros.” tags in the search bar. Mario pics barely have any drama, get lots of upvotes, and is waaaaay more accepted on this site then Sonic is.
 
Now, ’shipping them might be a different story, but people rarely do that with Mario characters & ponies…

Y’know, there actually was a li’l drama over Pac Man being in the new SSB games for WiiU & 3DS. Some felt he wasn’t “enough of a game character” to be in it, and such.
 
Some kids these days don’t appreciate classic gaming… When I was a kid, we walked 5 miles, UPHILL in the snow, just to play “Duck Hunt!” (HACK!) (COUGH!)
