Applebloom learned kung-fu from Rainbow Dash, as seen in S1
 
Rarity on the other hand, I like to think she’s a mix of asian and white and her knowing kung-fu is just a family thing. The only thing supporting this would be the fact that when Rarity eats in EQG, you see she had a bowl of rice and chopsticks among other things.
 
But that’s just me reading into things.

I wish that the show would do something with the mysterious and strangely out of character fact that Rarity knows kung fu. Did she teach Applebloom, or did they both have the same teacher?
