AoE is my second-favorite of the Transformers movies, with the first one being my number one. Much like the first movie, AoE actually seemed like it tried to have a heart. You were right about the movie being too long, but it felt more like a step in the right direction, after RotF and DotM.
Background Pony #E4F7
AoE was very much okay. It wasn’t great, but it’s not bad by most standards. Had character development, but it was too long (among other problems) At least it wasn’t as terrible as DotM.
But yeah, Rainbow Rocks was better.

Both were great and amazing films, all you “critics” should shut your mouths

Salt Miner.
Agreed.

But that’s not exactly much of an accomplishment seeing as an actual horse could make a better movie than Michael Bay.
Background Pony #0F58
You know i actually thought Transformers 4 was pretty good … but yeah Rainbow Rocks was definitely better.
Background Pony #3BE2
I expected that. Michel Bay NEVER does much right (I have yet to see a good MB film, but you may have) let alone Transformers.

autoroopers, they performed better than nemesis prime (mech) and the KSI mechs ever did. the fact that they’re derived from g1 galvatron AND worked well should be enough to tell how good the EDC did with those mechs.

And I think the whole “Transformium” thing was ridiculous. The Transformers are made of this magic metal all of a sudden that can alter its molecular structure or some shit like that… What? Where the hell did that come from all of a sudden?

But the main thing is that AoE was just really long, and really depressing, like in the film’s world there were only bad people, worse people, and much worse people, and that’s whether you’re talking meat or machine So much of it was pointless, or existed only to say “look how grim we are”, and it was so long, that I just left the theater feeling like my soul (if such a thing exists) had been sucked from my body.

Yeah, to be honest, I actually thought Transformers 4 handled the “Evil Military Group that wants to make their own transformers” plotline way better then Prime did, if only because TF4 actually used it to it’s full potential instead of dropping it halfway through.

@Scrounge
Even there it sucked. It’s just my opinion but MECH (along with a number of things from Prime) were wasted potential. There could’ve been an interesting sub-plot with Nemesis Prime gaining sentience & going all evil doppelganger for the series but he was offed quicker then Cliffjumper thus making this big bad Project Chimera plot very anti-climatic. Also Silas is an idiot but hey that’s a given with these plots.

I’m not exactly thrilled with the humans-betray-Autobots thing in general. I just feel like the whole thing, the human enemies who learn how the Transformers tick and make their own, was done better in Prime with MECH.

…stuffed with more bullshit then Star Wars Episode 2.

Agreed. There was lots of really vulgar crap in the movie, which really doesn’t belong in a TF story. Also, the infamous twins who are hated for being horrible, racist stereotypes, wouldn’t have been so bad, if it weren’t for ONE particular scene…

Yep, it’s the part where Sam asks them if they could read the ancient Cybertronian symbols, and they respond by saying that they don’t read very much. They were probably trying to say that they’re dumb, but it just came across as portraying the stereotype about how black people don’t read. Personally, I didn’t mind the twins as much as others, but I totally get why people were offended.

The lies being all the hype of Shockwave being the big bad…

I do remember lots of hype about Shockwave, and I was particularly excited to see him in action. Sadly, he was just another undeveloped Decepticon, who may as well have remained nameless. I didn’t mind the plot twist with Sentinel being the real villain of the movie, but the disappointing payoff to the Shockwave hype is on par with the General Grievous hype, for Star Wars Episode 3!

Another thing, TF3 is the movie that really makes you stand up and take notice of the fact that the Transformers themselves have no personalities. Speaking of personalities, in TF2, Sam showed plenty of maturity and character growth, compared to the first movie. However, in TF3, he’s acts way more obnoxious and immature than he did in the previous two films!

AOE isn’t great but it’s far from being worst…

You speak the truth! I especially love how they made the Transformers more distinguishable from each other, in more ways than one! They have extended dialog and personalities, unlike the previous films. Also, I love how Lockdown wasn’t just “evil, for the sake of being evil,” he was a bounty hunter, with a clear goal in mind. Also, he was true to his word, by handing over a powerful weapon to the humans, in exchange for Optimus Prime (his target).

Some people didn’t like how angry and vengeful Prime was acting in the movie, but as I said before, seeing your kind hunted down and killed by the very creatures you once swore to protect, will kinda have that effect on you. Besides, it’s not like they haven’t seen Prime be ruthless before. Here’s a really tame example of Prime’s take-no-prisoners attitude towards his Decepticon foes……

Real talk, that was a pretty slick kill.

@DJ1107
Even so, that part wasn’t even that bad, compared to what we had to sit through in TF2. Granted, that movie did have some awesome moments and I’d rather watch THAT than The Last Airbender, but the movie was still trash, make no mistake.

ROTF & DOTM are both bad in there own ways

ROTF is bad simply out of disappointing hype & just being stuffed with more bullshit then Star Wars Episode 2. & it’s consider the worst to the point where even Michael Bay himself hates it.

DOTM is bad simply for being filled with lies & being juvenile. The lies being all the hype of Shockwave being the big bad only for him to get sideline by Sentinel Prime. & the juvenile parts being with Deep Wang (it honestly didn’t bug me personally mostly because it was Ken Jeoung doing his thing) Sam’s obnoxious dickery being kicked up to the max, & that scence regarding how much of a bitch Mikela was (that scene DID bug me).

AOE isn’t great but it’s far from being worst the ROTF like RT kept egging on. AoE’s major issue was it’s length & lack of Dino’s other then that the acting wasn’t annoying & was all around decent (for these films anyway), The Autobots got a good amount of screentime & actually had somewhat semblence of character (Optimus more angry & vengful approach being hated but hey I’d rather take it then nothing or the ultra good never does anything wrong goody good he’s always portrayed as.), A villain who was more grounded & compitent then say The Fallen or DOTM Megatron, & more comprehensible metal carnage fights.

Oh, no, not even, AoE had very little attempts at humor, cringeworthy or otherwise.

Actually, AoE was just depressing for the most part. RR may not have been perfect, but it was at least fun.
