Well, in hindsight, I can see the interest in an entire universe which was destroyed by an alternate version of Superman, which may or may not be it’s own (hell, Morrison even prodded that idea in Animal Man).
 
But for it to be that exact universe from Countdown, and done specifically by Superboy-Prime, is where I kinda go… why? Like, Geoff pretty much ignored Prime’s role in Countdown save for his Sinestro Corps War appearance and (save for the tattered remains of his black suit, which could easily be explained as being charred from his universe hopping) more or less portrayed him as young Prime in Legion of 3 Worlds.
 
Plus, Morrison basically ignored like half the universes that Countdown tried to sell as part of the now official multiverse and made many details about others (like it’s Nazi League Earth 10 and Morrison’s for example) apocryphal.
 
…And now I’m going to be wondering if Prime does still exist; and, if he does, if he’s going to be the same from preboot or a whole different one from Earth 33, where Ultra Comics is from. I’ve already got a theory that some version of Prime is the Anti-Montior’s helper at the end of Forever Evil.

You know one of the biggest reasons (amongst many*) that I hate Countdown for? It forever fcking ruined any chance that anyone could ever take Prime seriously.
 
And yes, I do mean that seriously. I didn’t have to much around scans_daily for long before I got the reason he was retooled as the Straw Fan. Hell, I could watch Linkara in his lower moments and easily see what they were going for.
 
How the flying fck could two writers, WHO ACTUALLY HAVE TALENT, like Dini & Bedard write this crap I’ll never know. But I’m gonna guess that Didio was actually being the Didiot he really can be and missed just what Geoff was trying to do. Hell, JT Krull did too in his Titans runs before Flashpoint.
 
*The biggest one is that Countdown was literally superfluous to nearly everything in Final Crisis in the end. Why Morrison kept the universe where Prime killed everyone canon in his Multiverse map is a mystery to me.
