I’m not sure what races most of the ponies would be, considering that we see not “the color of their skin”, but “the content of their character”. I’m guessing Applejack would be white, though. That’s the only clear one.

Agreed… This one at least makes them cuter, and isn’t to exaggerated.
 
Surprisingly, some of the other “diverse” images from the “politically-correct” types actually look a bit racist sometimes. (Like gives them stereotypical features like big noses, big lips, ect.)  
I remember one where a black Pinkie Pie almost looked almost like an old “Mammy” stereotype. It’s like some people try SO HARD to be P.C., and “not racist,” or tries so hard to “diversify” them, that it ends up not looking as P.C. as they think it is ironically.

And this is how you do a diverse humanization and not make it look horrible, make the characters’ existing traits remain their defining characteristics and don’t draw them in a way that exaggerates stereotypical racial characteristics to the point of absurdity.

Drama-aside, these aren’t to bad though, and the artist has a nice art style. I kinda like how it’s harder to tell what “race” Dashie is supposed to be, which kinda breaks stereotypes a bit.

Though, I think the reason they give Fluttershy a “hijab” is to easily show she’s Arabic, I suppose. It’s not necessarily just to show what “religion” she is, but to show what “culture” she is.  
Though, I suppose that is kinda stereotypical, as not all Arabic people wear those.  
(In fact, some studies show most American Arabic people are Christian, not Islamic.)
 
Y’know, surprisingly there are ALOT of black/dark-skin Twilight pics, Arabic/Islamic Fluttershy pics, and chubby Pinkie Pies. So while I have nothing against diversity, I can see why some are getting tired of those.  
Still, fans should be able to draw the characters however they wish, not to be “political-correct,” and also not because of what others say the characters “should” be.
