Do you know why no one takes people like you seriously in this debate? Because you keep repeating the same tired old strawman “all he did was put in a tiny cameo.” That just isn’t true. You are either grossly misinformed about this event or you are trying to lie about why people are angry to those same people. Why do you think this is going to accomplish anything?
You honestly think that we’re only annoyed at Ted for an OC cameo? You think that’s all he did wrong?
And for the record, I can’t stand Curtsibling any more than I can stand Cuteosphere. Catfood is more tolerable, if only because of Fury Belle.
Curt? Yes; don’t think he’s a misogynist, though. Catfood? I’d be fucking confused, but the guy actually does do satire. If there’d been an actual misogynist OC I’d be just as angry, but more pointedly so would a lot more other people, including IDW’s higher ups.
Also wow, you think people on a fan site expressing their distaste for this is like people yelling about their house being burnt down and mothers assaulted? Who’s the one overreacting here?
IDW fucked up and some people on a random fringe fansite are saying they don’t like it or the official response to it. Stop acting like we barged into your home and blared a klaxon into your ears or planned a rally in DC to petition the president to have Ted hung.

This. This is what “thin-skinned” is. One douche writer did a douche thing for a douche pal in the background of two panels in a comic book for children based on a cartoon for children, and some of the people around here are acting like he burned down their house and punched their mom in the face. “Betrayals”? Really? Go back to art school and learn some perspective, FFS; he’s not a girlfriend who cheated on you with your brother or a president who sold your country to the freakin’ Nazis, he’s just a jackass comic book writer who pulled a dick move in a script, and only a tiny percentage of the fandom even noticed.

Your point wouldn’t reek of stank bullshit if Ted hadn’t loled at readers misinterpreting his and DragonDicks “witty satire” on the IDW forums and then immediately gone to the TRS forums to textwall about male tears and how all whitties deserve to be castigated.
He didn’t claim to be sorry; he accused people of misinterpreting him. There wasn’t a single point in time Ted expressed any sort of regret.
He attacked the people buying his comics, the people who loved his work, for things that weren’t remotely their fault. He claimed to be sorry and then went right back to showing how much he wasn’t. IDW lied and said he was fired to quiet the complaints down, but they didn’t really do a thing.
That’s a pretty big list of betrayals. People have every right to be angry.

Maybe they have scolded him behind the scenes but this generation of voyeur want to see everything.They probably want Anderson to appear in a convention wearing a “I offended bronies” t-shirt and holding a whip ,hitting himself while reciting “Forgive me fandom for i have sinned and had impure thoughts” Not every interactions between the member of the staff have to be in public.The current generations of viewers is so thin-skinned and prompt to make mountains out of mole hills that when the people in the industry make a mistake,they tend to lay low to not worsen the divine anger of the so called popular wisdom of the mobocracy
I understand why the fandom and people are pissed. I’m pissed too. I don’t take injustice lightly. But I did, however, thought a little that firing Ted outright like that was kind of harsh on our part. Despite the shit he has pulled behind our backs.
Just as long as they’ve scolded Ted, and this doesn’t happen again.
Though I understand they have a legitimate reason to keep him on the team. It’s a team, like a friend/family/band relation type of thing. They’ve been working together for awhile. And given Ted’s good track records on writing performance, I doubt they would just ditch him so abruptly. The proper way to deal with this, is to discipline them.
Mr. Anderson still needs to make a formal apology to those who he offended though… That is the least some of us are hoping for, and that this doesn’t devolve down further.
At this point, I’d say no… And yeah, I was very out-spoken against DWM, (despite ironically, not even being into the “Molestia” blog) as well as criticizing brony-haters in the MLP fanbase like P.P., and such who were polluting the fanbase with their hate.
I understand the fanbase has good & bad fans, so I’ve stood up for bronies many times, heck I don’t even like the things Ted did either, but things are really getting out of hand with this whole “bronies VS SJWs war.”
I’m not sure I want any part of said “war” anymore personally…
I don’t think it’s right to demonize all of IDW, or the entire series over Ted. (Though, it might be for the best of the book if he did step away from it.)
Only thing I’ll fault IDW, the company itself on is, people (including some here) got an e-mail from them stating Ted wouldn’t work for the comic again, >>732445 yet now oddly the editor of the comic apparently said he wasn’t fired. >>764542 (Either that, or doesn’t know he is/was yet. Who knows? Ryan Drummond was never told he was fired from being Sonic’s voice until he called Sega asking when they’d need him for the new game.) It raises alot of questions, did they lie? Did they change their minds? Is he fired, and the editor just doesn’t know about it yet? We don’t know hardly anything going on behind the scenes at IDW, or what Ted’s “true” intentions with the cameos were, and such… (Or if he really is as bad as people like P.P., and such man/brony-haters.)
So honestly, I don’t know what to make of the whole situation, or what’s going on… I’m starting to not care anymore with how ugly things are getting from both sides of the argument… (Including our side.)

Can this fandom last a fucking year without some stupid SJW or content-related drama?
There were several opportunities for solutions, and they’ve been wasted. IDW made its bed and earned the distaste of a portion of its costumer base; they’ll have to deal with it like every other company does.
To be honest I don’t want their license revoked either. Now before any IDW-haters say anything, keep in mind IDW & Archie Comics are the only comic companies in the modern era, I’ve seen that actually allow their licensed comics to last years on end.
Licensed comics published under major comic companies like DC or Marvel don’t last long usually. (As they usually care more about their original properties then licensed ones.) So honestly I don’t trust most other companies with the MLP license, and I’m glad IDW publishes them, rather then a company that don’t give a flip about their licensed series. (Nor do I really begrudge all of IDW over one schmo…)
I’m not even sure the comic makers, or Hasbro know anything about these internet “SJW” wars, and such on Tumblr. So it probably won’t do much good to try to bring ‘em to their attention, or why they’re such a big deal to bronies.
I also think demonizing (like people are doing in this thread) isn’t a good way to get them to listen to us either…
Honestly, I don’t think this Anderson drama will ever die unless he is “fired”… (Technically, sense he’s a freelance writer he can’t be literally “fired,” just requested to not send them anymore stories.)
And even if he is, I have a feeling alot of the people protesting/demonizing the comics, and IDW because of him, are now to soured with the series/IDW to even support them, even if he is gone.
There pretty much is no solution at this point…

Of all the things, I would hate to see this series I love so much suffer badly.
Hasbro would most likely try to talk senses into them. Revocation of license would probably hurt IDW more than it would for Hasbro. They would likely also try to follow the examples of stories made by IDW seeing how successful they were, and attempt to recreate the success. Just with writers who are more sensible with their political view opinions.
Whether or not this would be success or Hasbro even taking this route. I can’t say for sure.
I rather not want them to leave IDW, TBH. But this SJW BS must be addressed on, regardless.
There is the worst-possible-scenerio that instead of taking action against Anderson that Hasbro would instead revoke IDW’s license, have the comic cancelled. This could also destroy ALL chances of there ever being a “decent” MLP comic series ever again in the future that’s on the same “edge” the show is… (As Hasbro will likely be reluctant to ever license the series to a comic company again, or even if they did, tone them down to like G3-quality stories for toddlers…)
Granted this is a “worst case scenerio,” but you guys could potentionally make this situation worse… Rather then have action taken against Ted, or have him fired, you could possibly kill the entire comic instead, and hurt the rest of the people who work on it, as well… (As well as the fans/kids who enjoy the comics.)

We could always complain to Hasbro that this company “supports these type of people”. As a corporation that caters mainly to children audiences, this wouldn’t be acceptable. Seeing as how MLP is one of IDW’s best selling comic series, they’d likely try to save their faces for the sake of keeping the lucrative license.
And worse, his boss accused people who presented examples of behavior that was apparently grounds for termination as a “misunderstanding.”
I would’ve been pissed and let it go, if he’d just said “I didn’t mean to come across that way”. Not even “sorry”.
But he didn’t. He accused people of misinterpreting him, taking things too seriously, not getting the “witty satire”. Then went somewhere else to reaffirm it wasn’t satire, he was serious and our interpretation was spot on.
I would be pissed.
But I’m a very forgiving person when it comes to verbal insults thrown at me. I usually just ignore them knowing in satisfaction of how pathetic they are. I try not to fuel them.
But if it persists and it gets worse, of course I may take action.
AKA, if Ted does it again, which I wouldn’t be surprised if he does, I’d call them out. I don’t like injustice anymore than you do. Seriously, I’m tired…
