Too be fair, it’s kinda hard to do anything in 32°/0° water, including stuff like “breathe” and “float”. Fine motor skills are right out.
And even the weight was all of the problem.
The main problem was balance, and that’s why Jack couldn’t get on the door in the first place.
But what the heck, it was just the end of a cheesy story.
Even if they were heavy enough to submerge it slightly, getting an inch or so of of frostbite below while sharing body heat above would have been preferable to one of them sitting alone soaking wet in arctic wind and the other outright dead.
To be fair, the door’s area wasn’t the problem.
