I’m not to big on ‘shipping either, (I think it’s a li’l overdone in the fanbase) but I don’t hate it, or anything.
 
I doubt they’re going to pair-up Sweetie Belle with anyone. (The character is still quite young to.) Funny thing is, her voice Clair Corlett admitted she likes the “Sweetie & Button Mash” fan-’ship, and jokingly refered to Mash as her “boyfriend” in an online Q&A session.

I agree with you. I’m for one is not a fan of shipping at all, what happen in that episode was just a ship-tease nothing else then that.
 
Just because it was a ship-tease doesn’t mean the writers like it, they will shot out this ship also.

Well, it’s really not hard to see something “ship-y” in it (I did so myself), but assuming that it’s intentional (and not just a reference with no deeper meaning) is a bit much. Of course, this is the fandom in which several people are well-known just for over-analyzing stuff.
 
Come to think of it, I don’t think I wouldn’t have seen anything special in it, if I were a kid. At least, I never did that with stuff like that back then and only assumed it’s a reference or something. I’m pretty sure that’s the case with most kids (which are still the target demographic).

Am I the only one who thinks the doll is just a reference to Spike, and nothing more? Not some huge romantic gesture, or anything?
 
They did have them dance together at the end of “A Canterlot Wedding,” which was probably a bigger ‘ship-tease. Overall, we never really see Spike & Belle interact aside from that, so I doubt they’ll actually become an “item” officially.

Same here. Spikebelle is something I never really payed much attention to but, yeah…it is kinda nice.

The comics seem to like fandom references from time to time.

You know I was actually just being goofy with my SpikeBelle comment (saw this pic was tagged with that and thought it was funny), BUT if it turned out it was canon Sweetie had a crush on Spike, even just in the comics (secondary canon) that really would be cute. I’ve never taken SpikeBelle as a ship seriously but thinking about it would be pretty adorable. And make more sense than Sparity since we know McCarthy wants to scale back the Spike/Rarity shipping now.
 
Even if it’s just a joke I wonder if Agnes Garbowska actually likes the ship. Has anyone asked her?
