I think ‘Kirin’ fits better for the unicorn. I mean, in Dairanger the unicorn was referred to as ‘Kirin’, and the combo being subsequently referred to as ‘Kiri-Ten-Ko’ would fit the MLP jingle rather smoothly. Think about it…

Yeah, that’s my intention with UTenKo as well. It’s all about extending the “U” sound to cover the “My Little” portion of the melody. After that. “Ten-Ko” covers the “Po-ny” part:

Yeah, UTenKo rolls of the tongue better, and OOO had a habit of using the first syllable of the medals for the combo names, so thematically, it fits better, too.
Thing is, a kirin is not a unicorn. It’s a kirin. They’re two completely different mythical creatures.
Plus, you can’t abbreviate a kirin medal as “kiri”. The Kamakiri medal already does that.
“Kirin! Tenma! Kouma! Kiri-Te-N-Ko! Kiri-Te-N-Ko!”

My Li-ttle Po-ny~
U~ ~ ~ Ten-ko~
It’s kinda hard to explain it purely in text.
I guess, but I was hoping to match the rhythm of the intro song’s opening melody.
