@Background Pony #4B10
Well, she does appear once every 2 seasons. (Not counting the comics, and EqG movies/shorts.) Would kinda break the tradition if she doesn’t appear.
@Jarkes
Which makes her a good flawed character. That’s the interesting part of her despite her not being able to back it up. Her persona is mostly based on a magician: looks real but it isn’t. There’s always something behind the curtains. So even if she’s not a capable and nice pony at first glance, her character mirrors almost everything about her.
I still maintain that there’s a difference between exaggerating things for dramatic effect and outright lying about your accomplishments. Trixie did the latter, so that was her problem.
Plus, she didn’t really “beat” Twilight’s friends at their own game; instead she just used basic magic that any run-of-the-mill unicorn could’ve done to humiliate them.
And while she did attack the Ursa Minor when it showed up, it’s more likely she was just doing it to save face rather than actually caring about protecting the other ponies.
@Sorait
So Trixie is an Awesomenaut? (If you get my phrase )
There’s a difference between being evil and being a jerk and Trixie pretty much falls on the latter category because she didn’t come to Ponyville for the first time just to rule or destroy it (until Magic Duel). Trixie’s an antangonist so she’s given the antangonist treatment for the sake for of Twilight’s development as the episode/show would put it. From Twilight’s friends view, Trixie looks like a huge taunting show-off for attention. To Trixie’s view, Twilight’s friends interrupted her stage which is actually her job. Now just imagine in RL would someone want to go upstage and steal the spotlight of an entertainer?
So many POVs, that’s what makes this fandom so interesting. ;)
Honestly, Trixie really isn’t evil. She’s a jerk, a show-off, and obnoxious (and she did do some pretty bad things; let’s face it, she screwed up pretty badly in Boast Busters, and getting the Alicorn Amulet for the explicit purpose of getting revenge on Twilight later didn’t help), but she’s not evil. And I think she could definitely be redeemed, as the comics have shown.
Also, inb4 drama over whether or not Trixie did anything wrong in her initial appearance. Lord knows I’ve argued back and forth on the subject, much like, well, any of the jerk antagonists in their one-off appearanaces.
oh shush it you, no one is buying your crocodile tears.

Agreed.

Atleast that’s what Trixie tells me.
