If you think the tarantula hawk wasp looks like “the nope-est insect on the planet”, just wait ‘till you hear how it reproduces.
(Just a bit of forewarning, the tarantula hawk wasp’s method of reproduction is quite gruesome, and just describing it in text may disturb some more-sensitive people. Proceed at your own risk.)
First the tarantula hawk wasp looks for a tarantula (y’know, the big venomous spiders covered in fine hairs that can be shot out as projectiles) and fights it into submission, then they sting the tarantula, injecting a paralytic venom before dragging the victim into a borrow made for it, before laying one egg and covering the burrow over. Once the egg hatches, the larva proceeds to eat the tarantula alive, saving the vital organs and central nervous sysyem for last, so that the poor spider can live every waking moment experiencing nothing but a hellish agony.
