The reasons for that became apparent midway through the firstborn’s emergence, when said protean demigodling paused ‘tween its mother’s expletive-laden pushes to wrinkle its then-beaked snout & pop the volleyball that had preceded it, revealing a semi-catatonic Spirit of Disharmony. Shortly afterward, Whateley Erebus Pie made way for xir outwardly Earthpone twin Mozzerella…who, upon tumbling safely into Doc Redheart’s only slightly quivering hooves, cocked her head before coughing up an unharmed & surprisingly chipper Mr. Sandwich.
 
Upon noting the pall of goldfish-eyed incomprehension that had settled upon the faces of friends & family, a sweat-streaked but refluffened partypone simply shrugged whilst swaddling her spawn. “Gatekeepin’ ain’t easy, sillies.”

Well, it looked like a ball of draconequi in one ultrasound. In others, it was an amorphous, shifting ball of eyes and mouths; a centuar-like being with five legs, three arms, and two heads; and a apparently normal set of fraternal pony twins.
 
Neither Discord nor Cheese Sandwich could be reached for comment.

For some reason I’m now visualizing a brood of draconequus fledglings(?), intertwined like a ball of juvenile pythons. A prospect like that would put any pending mom in an amply-deserved mood-’specially if they keep bollixing her accustomed party mojo with sour eggnog & spontaneously-animated power tools.
