Description

The Third Wave of Fury Belle, page 17

Who’s Mr. Fleecs?

Hes a comic artist for the MLP official comics (as is the hoped for Mr. Price). He has a reputation for being a little unsteady, drawing things in a rather bizarre manner

full
and some people have even (allegedly) found evidence he traces his characters from Equestria Girls screenshots.

Its a bit pot-and-kettle because my cartoons arent exactly steady on their feet either, but then again I dont claim to be a pro comic artist! Yuk yuk.

definitely the buttcrack! i’ve seen someone with the behind to match that cover but she didn’t wear spandex so it’s kinda cheating to say the pose is doable but didn’t bother to wear the spandex.

But it’s not that in Manara’s cover there were lady bits shapes, you know.
It’s that someone thought that position was offensive for some reason - even though Spiderman had the same pose in the past.

Let’s be honest here: it’s the buttcrack. It’s just the curve of the buttcrack that goes quite deep. But really.

yes but in the vid, if spandex was tight enough to allegedly show spider-man’s balls, surely hispenis (even if not erect) would’ve shown. pretty sure most spandex in comics didn’t even show the underwear lines underneath the suit.
YMMV on manara’s pose because it can be more easily editted into an inappropriate situation (edit out the rooftop and make it into a big-@$$ bed for example) than the j. scott campbell spider-man that they presented as proof (though campbell’s can be editted to make it look like spidey’s ontop a body).

one minor quip about having cosplayers redo the scene as proof that it can be done. they should to it on a table so the right leg would be hanging out, sticking to the wall. most do it on a flat surface so both legs are on the same level. closest one i’ve seen that almost got it right is the right leg on a slightly higher position than the left (but still pretty close)

As for Zahler… did he honestly do anything else other than that Twilight one-shot? From what little I’ve seen from his normal work, like Love & Capes, he’s not a bad artist, just one not that adapted to drawing Pony.

Yes, it’s indeed the same feeling I had. Zahler isn’t good with ponies, that’s all. But then again, why having him drawing ponies?

@OptimusPrimevil
To be fair, the controversy was really preposterous.

@OptimusPrimevil

It was. Honestly don’t know if he’s still employed anywhere anymore.

The last major bruhaha about pornographic poses being used for comics was that (recalled?) cover for Spider-Woman from a few months ago, which from what I heard sucked so completely, even being part of the Spider-Verse crossover couldn’t save it.

Last I heard, Spider-Gwen’s been the arachnid-inspired heroine critical darling.

The issue with tracing is “Where did you trace it from” and “How much do you trace”?

Let’s take the UR Tracer in the industry: Greg Land.

In one of his books, he gives advice about using photos to make certain poses, such as an ice skater being used to create a Supergirl pose.

But he eventually got caught reusing poses & photo references more and more, even finding some poses he used matched pornographic references, making it incredibly skeevie.

Then you got the problem of him tracing other artists; there was a JLA issue he ‘drew’ in particular where nearly every single Joker pose was ripped off from Brian Bolland’s work in The Killing Joke.

In fact, he’s a pretty good category of Greg Land laziness for convenience.

Fleece has, to my knowledge, only used one of his poses once (Twilight pose from the Holiday Special on one of his covers) and used assets from the movie(s) twice, both on phones that are hardly negligable. That’s it.

Honestly, I don’t find much problem against Fleecs at all, personally. His EqG art is a bit odd, but otherwise fine. The art (as well as the furor I’ve seen with the ‘e’ added to Maud’s name) was the least of the Holiday Special’s problems.

Holy crap, Anderson. And you turned that in before the dragondicks connection came out… Wow.

As for Zahler… did he honestly do anything else other than that Twilight one-shot? From what little I’ve seen from his normal work, like Love & Capes, he’s not a bad artist, just one not that adapted to drawing Pony. His story wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the newest stuff like the last two arcs from Katie, Ted’s post reveal work, and Jeremy Whitley’s stuff.

@SwordKing
Yes he is, but is hated regardless. Granted some of his interior work isn’t as good as his cover art, but regardless I don’t think he’s that bad.

@The Twelfth Doctor Whoof
I thought it was proven that fan-accusation of him tracing turned out false when they compared the images he supposedly “traced?”
