Step 2 - Hand her a copy of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves
Step 3 - Encourage her to read it
Step 4 - Sit back and giggle at the ensuing calamity
Step 5 - Prison? Yeah, probably prison
Then that’s the one, yes. Found out about a long time ago in Vice video, I still find it funny that the guy you have there wound up repenting his ways and is trying to help their country. I mean sure it’s great he’s trying to be good but given that he peoples hearts, had child soldiers drugged up to fight and ,well, fought as his name implies. Then he became a christian minister when he repented.
Probably. when you have people with noms de guerre like General Butt Naked in that war, those aren’t too far-fetched.
I think that’s the one. Would the second one happened to have warlords with the names of General Mosquito and General Mosquito Spray? I’ll check out the links later since I’m suffering some problems with my internet connection.
There were Two civil wars. one that went from 1989 to 1997, started with the objective of overthrowing Samuel Doe, who, in some aspects, was just as bad as Taylor, and the other spanned almost all of Charles Taylor’s rule. the one you’re probably referring to is the second civil war.
Edited
Pretty much yeah. Though I’m more familiar of the time period of after? his fall. Which I believe would have been the Liberian Civil War and the utter insanity of the people there.
You mean, Liberia under Charles Taylor’s regime?
pol pot’s WTF IMO is insane even for horrible regimes. year zero is insane from a modern standpoint (though that’s probably my materialist-techno dependent side talking)
I’d say yes.
Also would you gents mind in giving your examples in either horrible regimes or people.While I would have given Liberia as an example I don’t exactly know who’s ruling there. While for the person it would be Idi Amin.
does taking the life of his dog and himself count?
Is it wrong to assume Hitler’s total kill count (after the Great War) was zero? :3
regimes probably since both guys haven’t done everything personally (genghis has a leg up on adolf in the killing personally department)
True enough given the time and general area of when it all happened. Although are we just still talking about worst people in history or worst regimes now?
it’s the tvtropes but i find it funny when they pointed out that both iraqi wars with the US pales in comparison to what the mongols did…
and also the kill count was done (mostly) on horseback and with bows and arrows and swords. WWII had more ‘civilized’ ways of killing to reach that amount (but to be fair, the mongols took more time to reach that kill count than WWII)
@HJSDGCE
probably not the WEIRDEST conversation (would barely reach my top 20 wtf conversations ever)
If some people can calculate on the general property damage caused by the mongols I’m sure we can give on the how much they cost during the time period. The only thing at the moment I can remember is the destruction of Baghdad would lead to quite a big chunk in value loss. Also you are correct in the quit massive death toll during that period fighting them would lead to Genghis Khan being worse than Hitler in the casualty figures.
@thps48
Actually if I remember it right, I read that much of Europe at the time not liking or hating the Jews due to many real or perceived reasons. So Hitler is not unique in that regard plus given with general values of people during the 1920’s and 1930’s it does not surprise me with what happened.
how does the hitler scale do inflation? like if you count for inflation, how worse was genghis compared to adolf (IIRC total mongol conquest took as much lives as WWII, and that’s total casualties (allied and axis casualties)
His personality makes it so he loses points on the official Every Villain Is Lemons evilness review. It definitely seems like he cared for humanity, and admittedly, his was the only method to create an all blonde, blue-eyed Earth. Obviously, one death is unacceptable if it means that’s someone’s son or daughter or spouse or parent. :)
One school of thought is “Chaotic Evil” is worse. Killing for no other reason than joy. Killing millions by order of some douche on a throne or pedastal without knowing why. :T
There are many horrible people throughout history man. I could think of a few others worse or as bad as Hitler. Pol Pot’s regime for example have provided some quite nauseating things done to people. Or if we go WW2’s Imperial Japan or China under chairman Mao. While Nazi Germany has done horrible things, Hitler is not the be all “most evil man in history” as many believe he is.
@Whiteeyes
Dammit, now I have to post this for everyone to know what one unit of Hitler is.
Second most. Stalin weighs in at 2.5 Hitlers when it comes to systematic mass murder.
the book of job is probably the worst story there. sure he got reimbursed for his faithfulness but what about all the people sacrificed for the sake of the bet?
Let’s have a look at the book written by “the goodest ‘person’ ever”. The Bible. Is that a good read? Most stories devolve into spontanious fantasy and then end with everyone dying. None of the endings feel right or thought out.
There are many other examples of great people making awful books. And terrible people making great books. Art too is a good example where the more deranged and depressed the artist, the better their work. Not that I beleive that’s true, but it is clear that the author and their works cannot be treated the same.
twilight has a reverse effect on the people who are associated with it than mein kampf (as far as i know, a lot of the cast and crew think meyer’s nuts especially robert pattinson).
@Background Pony #13D2
true.
