Well, it could simply be because of how she had to lie to keep her belief going. Starlight seems to really believe in equality, but the only way to pull off equality is to lie to those who follow her. She hates herself for it and feels sorry for that action.

Of course, she blew up in anger because of how no one listened to her and jumped out of her thought process the moment this lie came out.
