At least I’d be laughing for the right reasons.

Headcanon? She was a blank flank for a long time, sucked at almost everything, and wanted everyone to be as bad as her–then found out that controlling others was her special talent…
Actually, it DOES generate moral complexity to construct a scenario where an immoral crusade is borne of a legitimate complaint. Yes, the villains were obviously wrong, but the people or society being defended may be guilty of something less obvious themselves that warrants some serious introspection.
But aside from that, you seem to be reaching pretty far beyond the premise of this comic (I assume that it’s the “this” you were referring to). The comic doesn’t suggest in any way that Starlight’s actions are justified. It just offers an explanation as to where her personal crusade come from.
So what I’m gathering from this is: it’s not even the stories that are a problem, they’re just in good fun. You have a problem with people who take them seriously and start building a headcanon on it. Which, ironically, is more likely the better the fanfic/comic/picture/whatever is.
I have no idea why something so petty inspires such contempt, but I guess I can at least see where you’re coming from.
I for one would rather see fans explore characters further and assign them dramatic backstories that give them moral complexity and challenge standards of Black-and-White Morality, regardless of what such concepts “spawn”.
That’s usually kind of the point, actually. What they went through does not justify their own actions.
Very Rarely are they done well.
Look at Garo the Anime and Dio Brando from Jojo. The villians have Tragic pasts….that are completely negated by their actions being a Million times Worst than the shit they went through
Though usually the intention with such stories is to show that, whatever the villain went through, it doesn’t justify the things that they did.
People who can’t accept that not everyone is a misunderstood or misguided good person. That sometimes acting like a massive cunt actually means someone’s a massive cunt.
I neither confirm nor deny your assertion (much less your definition of “shitfic”).
I will, however, note that you did not address my point. What do you care?
Shitfic writer and/or reader detected.
So what’s wrong with that? Nobody’s making YOU read it.
Coming up with absurd and bizarre backstories for characters that don’t have them already is something of a pastime of every fandom.
Both wrong. Towairaito Supaakuru.
Actually, it’d probably be “Twiraito”.
ONORE TWIRIGHTO!
Just you watch.
What the shit is a Dekaadé?
That’s gonna be a tall order. Right now I have more sympathy for Sombra than I do for this little shit.
Oh boy, here we go.
