Yeah, there are some similarities between, but a few shared tropes do not make for comparable characters.
I got it, but I’ll process it slowly. Another trope: Villain with Good Publicity.
For some reason this cartoon filled in somewhat the need for more leader villains. Ahuizotl and Queen Chrysalis are leaders and villains.
He is in a way, a Dark Messiah, he is a villain who preaches equality by removing the powers of the benders (people with elemental magic basically) and is treated, not like a prophet, but like you standard revolutionary.
Seeing the episodes, Starlight is basically Amon-light, even getting found out that she’s a faker via water, and having power to “equalize” people, Amon’s method being what amounts to a magic powered mini-lobotomy.
Anyway I don’t see Starlight as Kane, Kane a revolutionary, Starlight is the leader of a small commune that’s not actively trying to subvert Equestria, the chance to merely falling into her lap. That and her group is lead by ideology first and firmost rather then her force of whill, while the Brotherhood of Kane is far heavily reliant on Kanes will.
Yeah, I am so miffed. Dare I say a dead giveaway? Lucky that I’ve been out of my comfort zones.
Can’t anybody else have the guts to make a comparison Starlight Glimmer with Command and Conquer’s Kane?
Like this Amon guy here, sorry for my horrible knowledge (or lack thereof) of The Last Airbender universe, examples of the Dark Messiah trope?
I assume the expectation is if you repeat a running gag even after it becomes tired and unfunny, it eventually becomes funny again. Which only happens on rare occasions.
Because the joke is kinda played out at this point.
…but then again, this fandom does love to continue spamming jokes and memes long after they stop being funny.
(grabs)
EQUALITY!
But since the premier actually came out, I’ve only seen like two of them.
