Fair enough. I’ve just had that niggling in the back of my mind for awhile on the topic. As I said, Devil’s Advocacy. Not my beliefs, and frankly I am glad it’s considered a war crime. That said, as a supposed veteran, you’d think Redskin would know of such laws?

Not really though. Red would’ve just had it be “all in a day’s work” if even that. Jed and Vox (and maybe Fluffy) expanded more on this but in general, Marcus would’ve gotten off scot-free, all the while the narrative was bending over backwards to justify it and making it a “isn’t my character awesome for doing this!?” moment rather than something that really should not have been framed like that
 

 
First off, bad call on opening up an abortion-related thing (I myself am pro-choice for the record). But even so, that sort of thing is still considered a war crime. Ask any other soldiers that and they’ll tell you they would get court-martialed at the least (even for self-defense)

This is only about the lack of physical consequences; the idea that Marcus would do this guilt free is absurd.
 
That said, from a Pro-Choice point of view, where an infant is not a separate entity from it’s mother until birth. So, from the point of view of a wartime tribunal, why would killing a pregnant HFL combatant be any different from any other HFL chick with a gun?

Well, I’m somewhat more forgiving than the others (esp Doctor Fluffy). But even then, although I do keep some contact with Red, it’s really minimal, like “keeping him at 5 arms’ lengths away” level, since the friendship we had has just gone through far too much to ever go back to the way it used to.

But yeah, that was not a good period. I mean on one hand, for all his own jerkishness, I do feel for Red on account of the fact that this story was what he started and conceived; on the other hand, I do agree with the side-authors in the fact that the story definitely did have some pretty bad Moral Dissonance (especially with regards to the plans for TCB!Celestia and the whole “shooting a pregnant woman” thing) that really was Not Cool. We can only hope that the revamp won’t fall into chaos later on down the road too…

The original fic is pretty much cancelled, although they might finish it one day, but it’s unknown as of yet. [Link]

They were supposed to give the original AT THE VERY LEAST a Gainax Ending before going through with the rewrite!

They’re rebooting the story. Now it’s called Spectrum.  
I’m interesting to see how it’ll turn out.

Kinda doubt it actually. The Conversion Bureau is pretty much universally hated on the site, even by those who may kinda agree with Chatoyance. As I said, probably something more banal.
 
Though really, a downvote really isn’t anything to complain about. I honestly only brought it up to upstart discussion.
