Anyway, I believe the main reason for such big difference is that the budget for season 1 was measly peanuts. Nothing like what the series gets now. DHX could have done this S5 level of quality back in 2010 if they were properly paid.

Which is especially amazing since Wakfu started almost two years before FiM.
 
Flash doesn’t stagnate either, each new release gives more freedom to animators. The Flash of today lifted many limitations of the Flash from season 1, it has been almost 5 years after all.
