Eh, I don’t mind.

Hmm, thinking about this thing again, I can’t help but remembering back to between seasons 1 and 2 (and probably season 3 I guess) people were obsessing over trying to find Lauren Faust’s pony Bible.  
I guess what they were hoping to find was a detailed rule book for specifics on how the different characters were supposed behave within.  
Kinda like Rarity has a fussy personality and has a eye for details.  
Or Twilight Sparkle is a book worm always reading books and memorizing information from them and is always organizing things and information in structured lists.  
But then people found that the shows production staff does not have such a “bible” and that even Lauren Faust wanted the show to be produced in a fluid and flexible manner, allowing the show to grow and change to meet different interests.  
My only thought would be once the fandom fall in love with the way characters interact in season 1,would they want 5 more seasons were the main cast is strictly defined in their speech and behavior, with little room for growth or change.  
People sometimes suddenly change in real life, especially women with their hair, I find it kinda funny that people are so comfortable with the mane six keeping the same hair styles for several years when fashion conscious women in real life would never keep their hair the same or want to be seen in the exact same outfit in different social events…

I agree with this 100%. There’s a difference between adding new depth to a character and just having them do something they normally wouldn’t because ‘real people are inconsistent like that’.

This is pretty much the reason why I generally don’t read American comics like Marvel or DC anymore. It just got too annoying when a character would act differently between books or even within the same book during different storylines.
 
The one that finally made me throw up my arms and give up superhero comics was when one comic had Doctor Doom speak in the bombastic style I associate with him (e.g. “You seek power? Instead, you find only DOOM.”) while another had him speak like any other guy on the street (e.g. “Yeah, okay, we’ll go with that.”) and still another had him talk like a fucking racist (e.g. “Ah. I have always said that the African is a superior physical specimen.”)

The one thing that I will add to this is that if you only had one writer and one artist, then you would have a lot more consistency, either you would like their stories and jokes, or you wouldn’t.  
When the pony show and comics have multiple writers and artists, you end up with the same characters saying and doing different things “omg why is Pinkie Pie yelling at that filly? She’s behaving out of character!”  
With so much variety of pony out there, and no clear end to when the final season will come, just enjoy the bits that you like and let the parts you don’t like pass you by.  
Otherwise don’t over think cartoons and comic books and just enjoy the show!

Pie-obsession is Flanderization. Breaking the fourth wall is just lazy comedy. My $,02.

To be clear, are you referring to things like Pinkie Pie being a Deadpool-like fourth wall-breaker or Soarin being pie-obssessed?

Claiming a character has a deep and multi-faceted personality does not justify writing a character as if they are something else entirely for the sake of a storyline in a work meant to align with canon. It especially annoys me when it is done to a character whose depth and subtlety actually does not often receive acknowledgement and especially when the author is obviously appealing to memes. I understand wanting to incorporate unexpected elements, but you need a damn good explanation for it. Otherwise, you risk actually oversimplifying the original character, or losing it.

If I were to hazard a guess, I’d say it’s a less than polite way of asking, “Dammit, it’s a comic/cartoon. Why can’t you just sit back and enjoy it without complaining all the time?”
 
And it’s not like people act in-character all the time in real life either. I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where we’ve gone, “Huh. He/She doesn’t normally act like that.”

I think he’s also poking fun at the fans’ tendency to fling “OOC!” and “Lazy writing!” as their standard criticisms of pretty much anything the franchise puts out these days without actually backing things up.
