Assuming either pegasi or unicorns are interested in democracy. Pegasopolis seems to have been modeled after Sparta, which was a military aristocracy, and Unicornia was apparently a medieval European-style feudal monarchy.  
Democracy seems to have been purely an Earth pony institution.

We have no idea how Equestrian politics work, but there’s a pony who’s job is being mayor, and having a monarch does not prevent democracy in action, as in the case of Britain, which has a royal family but still has elections of who’s in charge of the government.

Wrong The Empress started life out as a lowly Senator, worked her tail off to become the Supreme Chancellor, and eventually the Title of Empress of Equestria after declaring her Sister a Traitor, and sending her to the Moon!

Ah yes, in fact both sisters have been elected. O.k., that was a long time ago, none of the ponies who eleceted them still lives and it was only a small group of ponies, but they have been elected by Starswirl and his group. So,technically speaking, Equestria is a Democracy with reaaaalllly long terms!

Democracy simply doesn’t work for ponies. They are fundamentally incapable of getting anything done democratically. No matter what the issue, they always vote neigh.

Whenever some citizens of rich,stable and peaceful countries that have constitutional monarchies like Luxembourg and Monaco demand democracy(which by that they mean the complete abolishment of the crown) for no other reason that seemingly having a full democracy I cant help but see their arguments like this.

Okay, lesson learned. Don’t let mud ponies have the vote. But pegasi and unicorns still deserve to have their voices heard, don’t they?

Ponies had democracy once. The result was Chancellor Puddinghead.

Well they were born into it probably before regular ponies existed. That or they themselves created the government.

That presupposes that democracy is a virtue in and of itself, rather than the means by which good things are achieved.
 
If Equestria already is an idyllic utopia, then where is the need for democracy? Asking for democracy, when everything that democracy is supposed to help us achieve already exists, is like asking for money, when you already have free access to everything that money could buy. Unless you have a fetish for money itself and just want to rub little green pieces of paper all over your body, regardless of their actual usefulness, money serves no purpose in the latter scenario. Likewise, unless you fetishise democracy and want to have it just to have it, it serves no purpose in an utopian society.
 
So what we have here is an internal contradiction: either Equestria is an idyllic utopia or it needs democracy. Each of these precludes the other.

I’ve seen some of these tumblr’s previous post, and they’re actually legit feminists; they made a post a couple years ago saying that they’re completely okay with guys liking MLP, as opposed to the so-called “feminists” who rage about evul broneez.

Something tells me that wouldn’t change much.
