Actually, just the opposite. This is a beautiful example of a Visual Pun being played out in the show. Luna shining the light of her Moon to show Apple Bloom that the scary shadow pony is just her own shadow is a metaphor for showing Apple Bloom that her anxieties are her own creation and can thus be controlled. She’s literally causing Apple Bloom to become enlightened.
