Of course! Originally, it was a mythological bestiary, where all the griffons and hydrae and such went as people explored the world and found it wasn’t quite as fantastic as they’d thought. Nowadays, it’s fueled by bursts of disillusionment as generations of children realize there aren’t any unicorns out there, hence the pastel coating over the savage core.

I’m quite familiar with Genius: the Transgression, though I’ve never gotten a chance to play a game. It’s interesting to note that in a world as freely magical as Equestria, it’s possible that Wonders wouldn’t immediately go haywire when handled by the un-Inspired.

…wow she actual does sound like a World of Darkness Genius. Note the capital G. Like Mage and Noble, the capital indicates it’s a major template and not just what a character does. Anyway WoD Geniuses are inflicted with Inspiration. This lets them…cheat physics a bit with what they create. Sure by the laws of our reality you can’t create a regenerating six legged mega cat bear with laser eyes and cloaking capability, which is why the Genius made this modification to the birthing chamber so he could borrow the biological laws of a similar parallel universe.
 
The thing is, Inspiration prevents them from ever doing real science ever again. This may sound silly, but it is significant. They can never test anything again, because they have the supernatural ability to get the results they want. They cannot run unbiased tests due to their extreme emotional nature, and whatever outcome they want is the result they get, no matter even if the test is actually stacked against that result deliberately or by its very nature. To put it bluntly, if a Genius were to actually, legitimately try and test whether a marble dropped “upside down” would fall up and honestly believed the answer would be “yes” were to release said marble, it would proceed to do just that.

The trick wasn’t using the twitbuster itself, it was calling the twittermites to it and vacuuming them up before they realized they were being fooled. That was the special talent Apple Bloom had and then discarded, making the twitbuster useless for her.

The twitbuster is a pretty basic device, I don’t see why it couldn’t be used by any pony. Maybe less efficiently than by a specialized one, but it doesn’t make sense to work exclusively for those with the right CM.
 
Luna’s dream projections don’t reflect the reality accurately, after all.

First dream: Mad physics and those fools at the institute elementary school laughing at her.  
Second dream: Mad chemistry and her so-called friends turning their backs on her genius  
Third dream: Mad biology and her family shunning what they could not understand!  
Fourth dream: Uttermost madness and communing with the only one brilliant enough to be her friend: herself. Oh, and Luna.

Headcanon accepted.
