You know, I think this scene could have gone too far either way. It could have tried too hard to be emotional and fallen flat, or it could have leaned too much in a comedic direction and become shallow and annoying. But for me at least, it was just right. I ended up feeling sorry for Rainbow Dash because as much as she was overreacting, her sadness still seemed real.

Yeah, the attempt to make Tank’s hibernation a kiddiefied version of a pet’s death didn’t really translate. Outside of that flaw, though, I thought this was a top-tier episode. Even given that the flaw weakened the core of the episode, I’d give it an 8 out of 10.
