The entire point of the prophecy and Harry Potter being chosen is that it’s all down to Voldemort choosing to believe it. Nothing would have happened if Voldemort had never heard the prophecy or had just ignored it. Neville just happened to fit the bill as well as Harry.
 
Say Voldemort chose to believe the prophecy referred to Neville, he would have went to kill him along with his parents, maybe the exact same thing would have happened and Neville’s mother protected him with her life and he’d be the Boy Who Lived with the lightning scar and the ability to speak Parseltongue etc.
