Pretty sure the Blast-Off thing is first iteration bias.  
The thing I know the most about transfans is that they’ll complain about anything, especially other Transformers fans.  
Also everything else. They are the ones who coined “RUINED FOREVER” after all.

Oh, if we’re going one pony to a team, then yeah, RD with the Aerialbots, Lightning with the Stunticons, Fluttershy with the Predacons and EQ Twi with the Technobots.
 
I’d also throw in Applejack with the Protectobots (what with her wanting to protect her family above all else), the Trainbots (hard workers) or Constructicons (raising barns won’t be a problem anymore).
 
And maybe the Seacons with Flutters. Oooh, or maybe the Brestforce. ‘cause they have their animal partners, plus Hootershy…

We aren’t talking about a sorry loser like cartoon Rodimus Prime here, who seemed like a pretty inferior leader compared to Optimus (and there’s that whole ‘responsible for getting Optimus killed thing’).
 
Heck, the only line I’ve seen for Alpha Bravo simply has him state he’ll do whatever it takes to safeguard Cybertron, which already endears him to me more than Slingshot. Plus, he’s still a bot who flies in the air. No one ever complained about Blast-Off (a freaking space shuttle) being part of the Combaticons.

I dunno, I figure Dash’d have more fun with somebody like Slingshot or Air Raid, the really impulsive or competetive ones. I can see Twilight getting on fairly well with Silverbolt (Mr Responsible) or Skydive.
 
But I don’t think no one will doubt Fireflight and Derpy will have lots in common.

Rainbow Dash, or in this case Rainbow Dork, is clearly best with this Aerialbot.
 
Wait. Rainbow Dash is 20% best with ALL Aerialbots, (G1, SuperLink/Energon, Combiner Wars, whatever).
