That said, this does appear to agree with canon anyway.
It’s very very subtle details, nothing that I could say 100% establishes that it was planned or intentional. But you’ll note that it is nearly always DT leading the charge to call them Blank Flanks.

Really? I missed that. I haven’t seen Call of the Cutie for a long time, but Flight to the Finish? All I remember is SS saying “But we already called them Blank Flanks!” which suggests more to me that she’s all out of ideas than any actual disagreement with DT.

The only clear sign the show gives of this crack in the relationship between DT and SS is in Magical Mystery Cure, when DT sings, sees SS’s better dessert drink and snatches it away, and SS gives this perfect look of “I am tired of her yay.”
But its very interesting to go back to, say, Flight to the Finish or Call of the Cutie and pay attention to the DT/SS dialog, and there are definitely undertones that SS is not happy with how DT does things but cannot let that be known or fear ruining the friendship.
Though, I wish it was right.

Also, it’s obvious how this will end later. Diamond Tiara got there first but since she lost a teammate, she will be disqualified. Since CMC are in second place, they win. Diamond gets angry and blurts out her cheating, which shocks everyone including Silver Spoon.
Either that or the CMC blames DT for cheating. DT tries to prove otherwise and Prancy deduces the clues and proves that DT was cheating after all.
