It truly is a beautiful spear.
The complexity of such combination weapons reserved them for the nobility who could afford to have them decorated as well. While indeed not terribly effective, combination weapons were somewhat practical in their own way. In the not unlikely event that the gun did not fire or missed, you could do your enemy in with the rest of the weapon.

There seemed to be a short period of time where people werw trying to combine the old familiar mêlée weapons with early firearms.
If never terribly effective, they were almost always quite elegant.
