I took it as Celestia purposefully attempting to keep any new alicorns from being born
Well, misspelled on the board is “Homogeneous love is happiness”, basically stating that Celestia wants to keep the races pure. Earth Pony with Earth Pony, Pegasus with Pegasus and Unicorn with Unicorn. A horn is not the same as having wings, so just because your not a Earth Pony doesn’t mean you get to muddy the waters with interbreeding with other kinds.
