It may not be the phase where show is jumping the shark but i do hope that pandering to fandom will cease after this episode. It may be a special episode but everythign they establish there will still count as canon. Every shipping tease, every reference to Equestria Girls and if there is even a single character from comics, then it will also canonize comic arcs.

Not really. Jumping the shark is not the high point. Nobody thought the trope namer, Fonzie jumping over a shark, was actually good. Rather, it was ridiculously out of place for “Happy Days” and therefore marked the point where the writers had run out of ideas. It is the moment it becomes clear that the show should have ended before that moment.
