I’ve still not managed to see the changed version of S2E14, because the DailyMotion channel on which I typically watch episodes has the old version.

I got into the fanbase A couple weeks after “Princess Twilight” so I did not know about Derpygate. Looking back on it, it was absolute bullshit and unnecessary to change that scene.

It was used a long time ago as another word for “retarded”. This meaning has changed over time, though, it’s not accurate anymore and not used in that way anymore.  
But the soccer moms used this old and outdated meaning as a justification to complain about Derpy and hate on her.

Absolutely not. This is something that shouldn’t even be discussed.  
Nicknames are fine, but here it’s different.  
We named her “Derpy”, Hasbro and DHX adapted the name as her official one and then haters and soccer moms came complaining about it and picking on Derpy, by pointing at an old, ancient meaning the word “derpy” once had and in consequence, Hasbro removed her name from the episode (among the other terrible things it did after that fiasco).  
That Derpy was now mentioned as “Muffins” in the credits is the result of the way these haters acted three years ago and that Hasbro actually avoided Derpy’s name in the credits is a kneejerk reaction by it to appease the haters who complained about her name.  
This is censorship and no one should support this.  
Because Derpy’s real name is “Derpy” and nothing else and that she was credited as “Muffins” does not change that Derpy is still her name, both in the fandom as well as officially, cause censoring is never official, it is a coverup of the official name to silence haters by hiding Derpy’s real name.
 
Don’t support it. Don’t help the haters in their views. Stick true to Derpy and her name!

Her name was not “Muffins” all along, it was introduced because Hasbro gave in to haters and doesn’t dare to use Derpy’s real name anymore (at least not so far).  
So, it’s impossible that she was always called that name.

It was always “Derpy” and she never had a nickname. “Muffins” is just censoring because Hasbro gave in to complaints of haters, who complained about it that she was mentioned as “Derpy” in the “The Last Roundup”.

“Muffins” is not a name anyone should use now, neither as a nickname and especially not as her official name.  
This name was invented by Hasbro to appease the haters and kiss their feet, out of fear they would complain again if she is referred to as “Derpy” again in the show.  
It’s just censorship and censorship should not be supported. Her official name is still “Derpy” and this is the only name we should call her by.

You can’t know that. And I disagree. Derpy will reclaim her real name too one day.  
The complaints were three years ago. And it was just a minority of soccer moms (according to Amy Keating Rogers herself: 10 complaint mails and 200 positive ones) anyway.  
Derpy will be mentioned as “Derpy” again in the show one day. I know it.

You realize she will never be called by name in the series? they credited her as “muffins”, but her name was never mentioned, the doc just call her “friend”.

Hasbro Executive: Well, since we can’t call her the names that fans call her since that will tick off the soccer moms, let’s just call her “Muffins”! I’m sure our fans won’t be upset about it…right?

Still holding out for her to go back to Ditzy Doo, but at least they let her talk again!
