Except if you factor in her origin story, Sunset was always just a power hungry bitch who got kicked out for being a power hungry bitch and became even more of a power hungry bitch till she was shot with the friendship lazor
Even in his origin story in the comics, Tirek was just a jerk. Sunset has a legitimate beef with Celestia… even if a lot of what led to that beef was her own fault - fortunately, she’s smart enough to realize it after she calms down.

Welp, that settles that.
The original had him there, but I figured I may as well go with the comic version of him (like Sombra) who is alienated by his dad, leading to his desire for conquest. Seems like as good a reason to be a villain as Luna’s.
Plus I needed room for the most evil pony of all.
Notice the lack of “quality” indicators. I’m not gonna presume any of these categories are automatically better than others like I’m the sole dictator of what is to be considered good.
