Sunny Flare, Indigo Zap, Twilight Sparkle? That’s half that aren’t sweet related.
 
Well Sunny Flare and Indigo Zap sound like soft drinks, just like Capri Sun.

Also isn’t Indigo also a plant? Baptisia aka. Wild Indigo and Indigofera?  
There is even a flower called Rosa Sun Flare and Lemon Zest petunias.  
Also in some recepts for sweet you suger coat, or candied some flowers and put them on your pastries.  
Sour Sweet has Synsepalum dulcificum in her hair. Those berries are used to make sour thing like lemons and limes taste sweet.
 
So the names are probably more clever than we thought.

If you look at the toyline there are 3 competitions and this is how the teams break down.
 
Archery: Twilight, Sour Sweet, Applejack, Fluttershy.  
Roller Derby: Pinkie, Rarity, Sunny Flare, Lemon Zest.  
Motorcross: Sunset Shimmer, Rainbow Dash, Sugarcoat, Indigo Zap.

If you look in the background you can see that fluttershy has here the same hairstyle like Sour Sweet in the picture above.  
Also I think they took parts of the colorpallets from the original Designs. Like Posey (different yellow and pink), Maple jack (red and green coloration of AJ), and Raritys body was this blue before they decided to go with white.

Name wise and color wise I would say  
Lemon Zest = AppleJack  
Sugar Coat = Pinkie Pie  
Indigo Zap = Rainbow Dash  
Sunny Flare = Rarity  
Sour Sweet = Fluttershy.
 
In the trailer you can even see Sour Sweet and Fluttershy in the same competition.  
I guess they will be defined by their differences and not the similarities. That they are in some regard equal opposites.

So they are rivals, and going to compete against individual members of the human mane 6? I’m guessing:  
Sour sweet = AJ (Freckles)  
Lemon Zest = Pinkie Pie  
Indigo Zap = Dash  
Sugar Coat = Rarity  
Sunny Flare = Fluttershy
