one of the original google deepdream algorithms is the ‘dogslug’ one, the code is open source so people have been making lots of variations. the sites aren’t easy to find though.

I’ve been using Dreamscope website,  
and the commonly used ‘dog’ish filter is called ‘trippy’ there.
 
The other trippy-like filter they got that I’m using in my uploads is called, uh…  
‘self replicating machine elves’.  
But i think its original name is ‘darknet’, maybe?  
Imo this one has more visual variety than the ‘dogslug’ one. :P

hehe nice gif I’ll do that later perhaps, Oh the thing about the dog faces.. it’s because they used mostly dogs when ‘training’ deepdream. There are only a handful of very clear things, pillars/buildings, car looking things, dogs, and birds/insect lookin things

Thankfully it turns out that this is just one of many possible filters for Deep Dream, happens to be one of the more popular ones.. and it’s the dog-ist one too.  
There’s at least a couple others that do ‘trippy imagery’ effects.

I have to say I’m disappointed by the fact there’s an excessive amount of stupid dog faces.
 
It seems like they need to improve the technology with more visual variety.
 
otherwise we might as well rename it to Deep Dog.

So this ‘deep dream’ effect is some kind of transparent psychedelic-style pattern, right?  
Is it supposed to mess with your mind a certain way?  
Cause I do feel a bit ‘weird’ watching the OP’s gif.
