Zecora is supposed to be a bit older than Spike; she’s a bit more mature-looking compared to Spike’s youthful look and his others lovers. Think about the cougar with the 25-year-old lover. Plus, this is how Marik always showed Zecora. And if you took a gander on his other works, you would see that this is how pretty much all of his zebra look like, with each one having different patterns of the stripes and the manes different.
The difference in color is due to the colored lighting.
