Celestia with a major role in a film… FUND IT!
A movie would develop Celestia’s character and give her a lot of screen time and importance to the plot. The show staff NEVER give Celestia any of that and would rather give more focus on her sister’s plight and everyone else.
AND WE WILL NEVER GET A MOVIE FOR IT !!!

Nightmare Moon was a known story, with a holiday all about her and how scary she was.
Events make more sense if stuff happened before the final confrontation, especially with how both Luna and Celestia seem to be acting there. The scene doesn’t make sense without buildup.
The way Luna brings up the issue and how Celestia reacts to it, even how she entered the room. How everything went…
It was obviously the conclusion to a much longer drama.
she might have gotten the power to shapeshift after becoming Nightmare Moon and the statue could have been bulte at anytime
Somepony knew enough to make a Nightmare Moon statue, and Luna is genuinely a shapeshifter who has transformed into multiple ponies at once.
Celestia didn’t seem anywhere near surprised enough at Luna’s transformation.

Well, we’ve seen Nightmare Moon shapeshift into three ponies at once, and Luna has taken Nightmare Moon form at will during Luna Eclipsed.
Luna literally has the ability to play both sides at once, and could have easily been Nightmare Moon in the real world for quite some time before Celestia figured out her true identity.
Yeah, I mean who knows how long Luna had been venting her frustrations in the dream world under her Nightmare Moon guise before finally snapping and deciding to do the whole eternal night thing in front of Celestia and assuming the persona in realtime?
They look at a final confrontation scene and they think that was everything.
Well, she also deeply scarred her sister and made her wallow in misery for a thousand years….there’s that.
