Don’t try shit.
Point. Even good stories get more downvotes with Flash Sentry in them. Because Flash Sentry has no character, therefore the writers who try to give him one should be punished for it!
There’s no logic to be found in that kind of dislike. Especially as many of the same folks wanted to have “Derpy’s” role expanded after The Last Roundup. She had exactly the same amount of character as Flash did at that time.

But seriously, Flashabuse gets old really fast. It used to be about having fun and ripping a bland character a new arsehole, but now it’s become an excuse to justify lesbian shippings towards Twilight Sparkle (I do like SunsetSparkle, though).

Which just gets the fans to riot that they give him a role. You want proof? Flash walked in to the music room in Rainbow Rocks. Most reactions before he even said anything? “Get out of here!”, “We don’t want you!”, and “Can’t you just die somewhere, Brad?!”
Hell, Flash got hatred for making a cameo in Three’s a Crowd and introducing ponies in Twilight’s Kingdom. He didn’t even interact with Twilight and he still got hatred.
He’s hated mostly for waifu and fanfiction. There are people who don’t like him because he’s “bland” since he’s such a nice guy there’s nothing…extreme about him to catch anyone’s attention (he doesn’t have OCD like Twilight, drama freak outs and fashion love like Rarity, shyness like Fluttershy, craziness like Pinkie Pie, ego and skill like Rainbow, country accent and bluntness like Applejack, weird sitting position like Lyra, very unique design like Vinyl, foil material like Octavia for Vinyl, etc.).
But, let’s face it, people don’t want him to get better. They don’t want for him to be likeable. They just want to hate him to justify their alternate pairing. I’m used to this from homosexual shippers of a heterosexual character.

because seriously, a LOT of pop-culture icons would be gone from existence if the argument “he’s boring, make a new character instead” is always enforced.
Don’t get me wrong I still abhor flashlight for it’s blandness and no development at all, it’s just that nothing I can do about it now.

Yep that sounds about right. It doesn’t matter what they do with his character everyone will just be like “are you serious they gave flash a role in something that’s stupid.” Even if it was good people would still say he’s a waifu stealer with no likability.
People need to get over it and move on.
what i meant to say is there are people out there who are deadset in ignoring the possibility of him having any development that even if the show/movie did something cool with him they just dismiss it as inconsequential.

I don’t even have strong enough feelings to actually hate him, it’s just vague feeling of disgust and irritation. I see no reason of not poking fun of him like lets say Blueblood only that Blueblood is still better developed.
I’ll admit he’s got the likability of a cardboard box but that’s not a reason to hate him he has no real reason to be liked either but not hated either I’m completely indifferent about him, maybe he’ll get more development and become more interesting.
He can get upgraded from cardboard into sandpaper.

I will only get over it when Flash becomes well developed and interesting character, before that I see no point to stop poking fun of this piece of cardboard.
