‘Hello, girls!’  
The mare in black’s voice echoed to them, amplified in this natural throat of stone, the sarcasm of her good cheer taking on mighty overtones. Blindly, the ropeslinger sought the moustache, but it was gone, lost somewhere, used up.
 
She laughed above them and the sound crashed around them, reverberating like surf in a filling cave. The unicorn screamed and tottered, a windmill again, hooves gyrating through the scant air.  
Metal ripped and sloughed beneath them; the rails canted through a slow and dreamy twisting. The unicorn plunged, and one hoof flew up like a gull in darkness, up, up, and then she hung over the pit; she dangled there, her violet eyes staring up at the ropeslinger in final blind lost knowledge.  
‘Help me.’  
Booming, racketing: ‘No more games. Come now, ropeslinger, or catch me never.’

It’s easily my favorite of his works. If you like fantasy/sci-fi then it’s definitely a good read.
 
And I heard recently that there was talk of a 3 movie + 2 mini-series of the series.
