I guess you’re right. The Dazzlings did lied to everyone about the Battle of the Bands. And a Battle of the Bands is not a competition with bands moving to the next round. It was actually a musical performance competition with each member or band perform only once in a similar fashion to American Idol, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, School of Rock, and/or a Battle of the Bands scene from Coco.
