Considering that Sombra at his weakest swatted Shiny aside (let’s not forget that Sombra is equal to Celestia’s height and being a stallion that means he a lot more bulkier and muscular than her. Plus I rate him above Chrysalis in power). And that’s the most pony-like enemy he had to face. Also Sombra is Cadence’s direct opposite, she is love, he is hate, and nothing breeds more hate and fear than war, which are his domain. So, if you want to represent War in MLP, Sombra is your stallion of choice.
Well, he IS a soldier. Sure, we’ve never seen him in “combat mode,” outside of one-sided fight against an evil shadow and a being that even the princesses couldn’t handle, but I doubt they made him Captain of the Royal Guard due to his love of corn dogs.
