I used the word headcanon, along with others, but I definitely did not mean it to be used in anything except for show-based plots and theories. So, yes, the phrase that best applies to fan artists is “alternate reality”. :3

Did you even pay attention to what I just said? We know that Chrysalis did not do any of that, she was defeated and sent hurtling out of Canterlot. What you just said is an alternate universe, because none of those events actually occurred in anything the official creators made.
But it is not a head-canon. The canon already established them as blood sisters, to break that is not head canon, it is an alternate universe. Headcanons are your interpretation of the actual text or video scenes or game cutscenes or whatever. Alternate Universes are constructs that a writer or a fanblogger can build to put characters into situations that didn’t actually happen in the source canon. By definition, this is an alternate universe. The good people of Hasbro have already established them as sisters who share parents. This comic is like making Fluttershy a changeling or making Pinkie a serial killer, it is just not lore friendly.

Hmmm once again, I hesitantly agree with you, but certain head-canons are lore friendly, in a way, so don’t dismiss everything that doesn’t fit the status quo my good fellow.
Well, his view is not exactly canon is it? Our overlords at Hasbro have said they are sisters, born from the same mother and father, whoever they are. They said they share a mother and father, so no offense to the artist, but alternate universe head canon is not the actual canon so therefore not applicable for main-universe status.

As aggressive as this comment is, I have to agree with your comment good sir / madam. It is established that they are birth sisters like Maggie and Lisa from the Simpsons, instead of sworn relative status, like Daruni and Link from Legend of Zelda.
