I agree, the transformation occurs when the local magic field is above 50%. At the perfect middle the human world and the equestria there’s a point of anthromorphism. Where the traits of both become apparent at once. Then should the magic of equestria be in higher concentration it’s a pony or if in the human world it’s human. NOW the trick is creating an Equestrian magic bubble as you pass through the portal so you do not transform into the human form.

Yeah, I like the idea that since her portals are ‘unnatural’ tears in the fabric of reality, they don’t work properly.

True, but there is a possibility that there is some kind of transformation field further down, though I doubt it. I would have liked to see some people fall into Equestria. Imagine if Human Twilight fell down the hole and landed right in Twilight’s library.

That, or it was the fact that there was a hole in reality there, part of the human world was bleeding through, so you would need to be further in before the transformation would take place.
 
Though I also prefer the interpretation that it’s the regular portal that causes the transformation, and the tears H!Twilight was making wouldn’t cause a change.

I DID notice that the people falling into the portals, even if they were completely on the other side, were still human. Perhaps the portals Midnight Sparkle made didn’t transform them like the normal portal does. So they’d be in Equestria, but STILL human.

An alternate ending or something where Midnight Sparkle manages to destroy human land, and then all of the humans fall into Equestria. Or something.
