Ok, for your first point I ask this, is Leviticus among those now basically defunct holy laws?

For your second point, I believe that God is supposed to be the ultimate good and loves us all. You know he’s like our father, and a good father loves their children no matter what. Yeah sure if we do bad things he’ll get mad at us, but he still loves us. I don’t think he’ll condemn people to hell if they do things like get married to someone of the same sex, or were born to the wrong family that worshipped God but only called him by a different name. I don’t think God is petty, I believe that so long as you’re not a jerk who kicks puppies 24/7 or a murderous lunatic you’re ok in his book.

As for the third point, the federal government has to step in and repeal those unjust laws from the states that had them. So my point is, sometimes a state will have an unjust and unconstitutional law that must repealed. If a state suddenly starts implementations sharia law, you better believe that the federal government is going to stop that.

As for your fourth point, what are you talking about? I’ve hardly ever seen an atheist character in a show, I’ve only seen a few actually. There was that one sergeant in Generation Kill but even though he was sort of the main character he was an asshole. I think the Punisher is an atheist, but not really, he believes in God but says things like “God is gonna have to sit this one out” or something like that. There are plenty of positive representations of Christians in the media. In the show Band of Brothers there was this one Chaplain who was calmly giving dead soldiers their last rites while a battle was happening around him, in Fallout New Vegas one of the characters Joshua Graham was once a ruthless villain until he had a near death experience and found God again and became a badass Mormon, in Mass Effect the player character can also say they believe in God, in We Were Soldiers the main character is religious and in one scene is shown praying with one of the troops under his command, in Hacksaw Ridge the main character is also religious and if memory serves me correctly in the trailer he’s praying to God to help him save one more soldier. I can go on and on and on man!

Pretty much, if I recall correctly the only part of it that is explicitly anti-gay is also the part that says you can’t wear mixed clothing and stuff and most religious authorities tend to ignore outright because it was in the Jew section.

Confession time: back in 2008, I wrote off Obama’s election as the result of white guilt, a cult of personality, and the eternal desire for free shit. In time I softened on the man, and on those who voted for him. But now? Now all that cynicism is flooding back tenfold. Apparently the American people can’t be trusted with any decision more complex than Coke or Pepsi. All I can do now is put my faith in the Constitution, in a separation of powers guarded by the jealous ambition of mainstream Republicans. Maybe this will be the thing that finally breaks the stranglehold of executive power in this country.

The main difference between him and one of your comrades is that he lacks a spine and has absolutely no desire for revolution.

We have something called separation of church and state. Most of what you mentioned falls under that. It’s not the atheists fault you take things the wrong way because you’re OK with injustice when it favors you.
