Daft Punk Thread

And yay, Daft Punk shall return to save us from generic house music and crappy dubstep this May. Let us celebrate.

Daft Punk are definitely a legendary group for electronic music. They brought up House music in the way that not many others were able to. Discovery is a gem of an album, that any electronic music lover has in their collection.

Actually, all I have is Homework, but I’ve got a few tunes from Discovery if that counts. :I

Discovery is their highest selling album, though Homework is definitely a great one as well, the only DP album that I didn’t really like was Human After All. It had a cool style to it, but it would of been better if the songs were more shorter.

I’d get Discovery, but the thought that certain providers are monitoring what you download is still kinda freaking me out. Sucks being a broke teenager. :C

I’m a bit worried that Daft Punk will either lean too much onto re-making the Discovery sound, or they will end up like other bands that make a comeback and end up not being that great anymore, I just hope that none of my worries will end up being true.

Mine will always be One More Time (with Revolution 909 as a close second). It’s the song that got me into EDM to begin with.

It seems to me that they’re not so much trying to go back to the Discovery sound, so much as recapture the warm acoustic tones of the sixties and seventies, reimagined in a Daft Punk style.  
And since Face to Face is your favorite, you might be pleased to learn that Todd Edwards is contributing on Random Access Memories too.

I should of had guessed that Daft Punk were gonna go for a completely different sound like they always have done on each of their albums, I haven’t heard anything from the album yet, though I plan on hearing some stuff from it.

Apparently we get Get Lucky on Friday, at least as a broadcast on radio; I imagine they’ll do a digital release soon thereafter.

So, the radio edit of Get Lucky released today. Anybody heard it? Is it good?

iTunes isn’t that bad any more, hasn’t been for a year or two now, and the store has always been pretty good. Don’t get why people hate on it (and I’m a pretty ardent hater of Apple stuff in general, just ask anyone who knows me)
