The last thing you want this world to become is one gigantic “safe space”. Because for sure, A LOT MORE people WILL be depressed beyond belief in such a world.

I do agree it’s best to bolster your nerves to endure the pains of the world. It certainly helps to get you through many things in life.
 
That said, I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to avoid experiencing certain horrors if you know you can avoid it. I’m sure many of you would refuse to click on a link if you knew it led to a video of someone being decapitated by a drug cartel execution, unless you happen to be a fan of gore.
 
I also don’t blame anyone for wanting to distance themselves from the cesspool that is Facebook.

What you choose to do on the internet is up to you, I just hope you understand for your own sake that life is very unpredictable to where you may witness unpleasant experiences without warning. If you want to prepare yourself to cushion the blow for these random moments in life, it probably would not be a bad idea to allow yourself to view controlled sources of intense content such as movies and other forms of scripted fiction. But again, it’s up to you what you want to do with your time.

Germany is a country that actually does shit. It has a long and storied history of producing scholars, medical geniuses, technological innovators, great artists in pretty much every field, great leaders, strong ideals, and is basically the only reason that the entirety of Europe outside of itself hasn’t just fucking collapsed economically.
 
Meanwhile, Poland and Hungary, who contribute jack shit in comparison to Germany, are just building their walls and creating short-sighted political hegemonies because “muh culture.” If their culture was worth near as much, you would be hearing about all of the great Polish and Hungarian engineers and doctors and composers. But you don’t. Wonder why.
 
The country that needs the fucking walls up around it is Germany, let the rest of Europe shoulder this burden. Letting Hungary and Poland cut themselves off is like letting the heart suffer so that you won’t lose a couple of fucking fingers.

Why are you bringing up Poland and Hungary? Besides, high levels of abstraction make you think of people as atomized individuals. Which is nice but is clearly responsible for their woes regarding migration

I never understand why people see to act like the refugee crisis was a created issue and ignore the fact that refugees were showing up by the thousands and getting into the countries illegally before anybody even declared that they would officially be taking in refugees to begin with. This couldn’t have been avoided, and now, instead of doing something productive for once to help an inevitable disaster, Poland and Hungary are shutting themselves off and letting everybody else suffer for it.
 
I do draw the line at biting the hand that feeds. This was an unavoidable situation and it has been since before it had even gotten widespread recognition, yet those countries are just walling themselves off and letting countries that do much more than them suffer.

Actually shutting themselves off is productive. Calls for solidarity in dealing with this disaster always means: share migrants. Which is rewarding the lawlessness of the migrants. Which means… MORE!

Get Merkle and the ones like her the fuck out and tear down the Polish and Hungarian’s current system of handling this and force them to actually contribute until everybody can find a way to send the refugees back to where they came from.

Then you move on to fix the issue besides that. First step is keeping them out. The other countries aren’t even doing that. While Hungary and Poland have and dont have the issue. So who was right?

They were, but it pisses me the fuck off that they’re the ones doing this and not a country that is actually useful in the grand scheme of things like Germany. It doesn’t help that their steps to prevent, especially in Poland’s case, were painfully shortsighted and will very likely cause problems down the road.
 
Germany is the last place where this shit needs to be happening, at any rate.

Doesn’t make Hungarian and Polish contributions any less important. Plus Hungarians and Poles were the ones who fought the Mongol Horde head on during the 13th century. If it wasn’t for them holding the Mongols back, Subutai probably would have just simply steamrolled over German lands and possibly most of mainland west Europe.
