Are the creepies just not popular?

Puni been trying to draw some creepy pones for a few months now, but they haven’t been very popular. Thought they’ve been turnin out pretty good, but it seems like any simple cutesy stuff and vector pastes get more attention.

Puni doin something wrong, or is this stuff just never gonna be popular? Considering just giving up on the creepies and drawing other stuff. Dun really care as long as it’s got ponies in it, I guess.

You’re not doing anything wrong. In fact, some of your stuff have really good score for creepy stuff. It’s just that the show itself has a cutesy style, so that kind of stuff will always be the most popular, and the opposite - creepy - won’t be nearly as well-received.

Your art is better than mine will ever be that’s for sure. XD Really digging the impressionist look on the first one.
 
I mean, what you’re doing is fantastic and keep doin’ it, but just know it’s a fairly niche subject especially in the surreal and uncanny valley look you’re going for (which really adds to the creep factor), you’ll just have to accept most people come here are looking for styles emulated to the show or hardcore pornography.

’kay. Gonna try doing some non-creepies and see what happens.

Workin on a screencap paintover of the breezies place. Just picked it cause it’s nice and colorful and non-creepy, but wow sooo much stuff to paint. Should have picked a simpler scene.
 

 
Any suggestions? Gotta add some clouds and haze to push the mountain back. Everything is kinda flat right now. Not sure about the overall value levels. Kindof wanna add a bunch of overgrowth and stuff under the mushrooms, but then it’s gonna get dark and creepy. Puni starts to let go and just get into the painting, and it starts gettin creepy again. It wants to get creepy.

Yay! Done! And it’s mostly not creepy.
